Antique AKXLN Dirk with Sheath
This dirk
and sheath are a wonderful addition to any
collection. Scarce maker-marked AKXLN
surrounded by a square dotted line. We have
been shown a few examples of other knives by the
same maker, one exceptional version was a Civil War
knife, made with a sword point and inscribed with
patriotic verse. The handle is made of bone
that has shrunk over time - as is appropriate for a
knife of this venerable age. It is held to the
tank by 4 brass rivets. The patina is
beautiful. It has a brass guard with rounded
edges.
This is a beautiful weapon that would have been owned by a wealthy man in the mid-1800's in America. Overall length: 11 1/4 inches
Blade length: 6 3/4 inches
Guard: 2 1/2 inches
Handle: 4 1/4 inches
long
Maker Markings:
AKXLN
Blade Thickness (@
thickest part): 1/8" +
Weighs 6.35 ounces
