The Diary of Michael Erskine, Edited by J. Evetts Haley.  This is a1st Edition Hardcover, limited to 950 copies.  Published in 1979 by the Nita Steward Haley Memorial Library.  This book is in Excellent-New Condition. 173 pages. 

The diary of Michael Erskine, Describing his cattle drive from Texas to California together with correspondence from the Gold Fields 1854-1859.  Michael Erskine owned the El Capote Ranch in Texas - his diary and writings chronicle his drive of a herd of longhorns to the gold fields of California in 1854 - He returned to Texas 5 years later and tried to salvage his ranch, by then heavily in debt.  It's a fascinating personal journal and filled with a wealth of observations by an intelligent and ambitious cattleman.
