Celestin Dumonthier's gun canes are featured in Catherine Dike's classic "Canes & Curiosa" and similar gun canes are on pages 342-344 in Chapter 33 on "Breech-loading Firearms." Celestin Dumonthier's factory was located at Rue des Petits-Hotels 23, Sailleville, Oise, and he filed patents in England in as early as 1876. Greatly sought after by weapons collectors, Dumonthier continued to produce in Paris until the German occupation during World War II, when all of his stock and documents were confiscated.
