"Eenaw Kawkee" by Montana Artist Bob Scriver

Bob Scriver Original Bronze : Blackfeet Collection

4" H x 2 1/2"W x 2 1/2"D, 2 lbs 4oz

About The Piece:

Eenaw Kawkee is a lovely petite bronze depicting a Blackfoot woman carrying her young child on her back in a traditional blanket.  Both she and the child have serious expressions on their detailed faces and they are both looking in the same direction.  This lovely piece captures the essential bond between mother and child, while hinting of something more private at play.  One is tempted to wonder if this journey that they are on is one taken by choice.

This piece is numbered and signed in the bronze by the artist.  #341 of 500.  It is mounted on an appropriate hardwood base.

Dimensions of the bronze are: 4" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".  The base measures 4" square by 2" high.

About The Artist:

Bob Scriver (1914-1999) was born on the Blackfoot Reservation in northwest Montana and many of his life-long companions were from that tribe.  His works captured the frenzied action of cowboys, people of the Blackfoot Nation and animals of that area as seen first-hand by the artist.

Educated in Browning, Montana, Mr. Scriver graduated with a Master's Degree in Music.  He taught public school in Browning and Malta, Montana and was a professional musician who toured across the Northwestern United States and Canada.  In 1951, Mr. Scriver added taxidermy to his list of skills and interests and developed the Museum of Montana Wildlife in Browning, Montana.  His fondness for hunting provided him with an extensive base of knowledge from which to enhance and add to the veracity of his taxidermy pieces and his wildlife sculptures.

Mr. Scriver did several series of sculptures including 33 works showing rodeo action and 53 pieces tracing the history of the Blackfoot Tribe, of which Eenaw Kawkee is one.

His vast collection of Cowboy and Indian memorabilia was auctioned in several series of events after his death on January 29, 1999.

Eenaw Kawkee. Limited Edition #341 - 500, Bob Scriver / Item #C200 / $850.
