Spectacular Extremely Rare G. S. Garcia Eagle Bit with Two Silver Fish, Two Ducks and a Water Bucket Slobber Bar

About The Eagle Beauty Bit:

This bit is an incredibly rare and impressive G. S. Garcia bit created and marked by one of the top rated Western silver-smiths of all time - Adolph Biancani.  The Eagle motif on the cheeks is exquisitely rendered with minute attention to shade and form, as are the fish, ducks and bucket, and the geometrically complicated conchos.

This bit is full of detailed engraving from top to bottom.  The perfection of the Eagle is complemented by the most difficult of finds - the "two silver fish, one bucket and two ducks" slobber bar.  The cheek rings are decorated with perfect stars, matching the stars in the eagle's shield and solidifying the overall patriotic motif.  The eagle's feathers and legs have been given a texture that is truly wonderful.  The original rein chains are attached, measuring 9", with 2 & 1/2" of original hardware.  (see the 1897 first catalog for a good rendition of the chains and hardware, pictured at the right.

The bit measures 6 & 1/2" wide by 9 & 1/2" long.  The cheeks are 7".  The raised conchos are 2 and 1/2" in diameter.  The eagle is 3" long by 2" wide. There is copper wrapping attached to the spade on each side.  The thin (1/4") roller is closely striated in a diagonal pattern within a slide that measures 2" long by 3/4" wide.  The spade piece is 2" in length by 1 and 1/2" at the widest.

The bit is hand-forged and hand engraved, overlaid with engraved silver throughout.  The maker's mark is authentic and period correct.  The mark is present on the inside of the left cheek and reads: G. S. GARCIA.  The silversmith's initials "A. B." are present on the inside of the right cheek, adding another rarity to this spectacular find.  Unquestionably G.S. Garcia and an amazing piece of artistry.
