G. S. Garcia Silver Engraved Montana Style Silver Spurs with Leathers

These silver spurs are an extremely collectible example of the work being produced by the Elko, Nevada shop of G.S. Garcia in the early 1920's.

These spurs are hand-forged and overlaid with coin silver, then engraved masterfully -- as was the practice of the time.  This pair of spurs is made in the Montana style, a refreshing departure from the use of crescent shapes, sunburst dot patterns and the signature cheek conchos that are to mark so many of the Garcia bits and spurs as well as most others made in the Vaquero style.  As these are a deviation from the California / Nevada style of design, they are doubly collectible and well worth adding to any collection.  The maker's mark is authentic and period correct.  The flat chap guard and rowel style on this spur was used in quite a few variations - one can be seen in the 1924 G. S. Garcia Catalogue - spur #51.  A true piece of Western spur history.  Unquestionably early and extremely collectible.

Gorgeous Engraved Silver Spurs with a floral and zigzag engraving pattern on the outside of each spur.  Both left and right spurs are stamped with the famous "G.S. GARCIA / ELKO, NEV" on the inside right of each spur.  Condition is very good, all parts are solid.  These spurs measure 3 1/2" Wide at the opening of the yoke / Rowels are 2 & 1/8" in diameter with 14 points.  The overall length is 6 1/2".

The accompanying leathers are not stamped.  They are, however, in excellent condition.
