Unmarked G. S. Garcia Silver Santa Barbara Spade #78

The bit is the G. S. Garcia bit #78.  The slight customizations from the stock bit are the extra button in the heart of the Texas star and the additional silver and one more button added to the front of the bit after the crescent.  The bit is unmarked, which is rare for a G. S. Garcia, though other known examples are in existence, it is very rare.  It is possible that it was made by a G. S. Garcia silversmith as a template, though undocumented and can not be stated as a certainty.

We have contacted several experts regarding this bit and there seems to be no doubt that this is a rare unmarked G. S. Garcia Sterling bit.  We have an almost identical bit stamped by Les Garcia, although this one is far superior and much older.

The silversmithing is excellent and the craftsmanship and design are first rate.  The bit dates from the late 'teens to the early 1920's and was created by a master. It's a beauty and will be a great addition to any fine collection.

This bit measures 5 and 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches long.  The Santa Barbara style cheek is 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter.
