James Stewart Signed Photograph and Original Letter, Signed This collection of 'Jimmy Stewart' memorabilia consists of an original signed 8X10 photograph of the actor and a type-written letter on his 8 1/2 X 11 personal stationery, signed by him. The letter is addressed to Mr. Joe Faust, President of the American Freedom Train Foundation in Virginia to endorse the foundation and become a member of the board. It was written in 1975, when Mr. Stewart would have been 67 years old. The American Freedom Train Foundation is still in existence today.
Jimmy Stewart is one of the most beloved and iconic figures of Western film, having starred in such features as The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Destry Rides Again (his first), Winchester 73, The Naked Spur (file photo at left), How the West Was Won, among many others. He was the first Hollywood actor to join the military during WWII (he was drafted in 1940) and left the Army with the rank of Brigadier General. The Wild West was portrayed with character and feeling by this patriotic American and great actor. James Stewart passed away in Beverly Hills, CA in 1997 at the age of 89.
