"John Wayne" by Jesse Corsaut Jesse Corsaut Original Bronze
About The Piece:
This is an investment bronze casting of a bust of John Wayne on a black marble base. The bust is 10 1/2 inches high. The base is 4 1/2 inches high. A copy of the original Optimist Boy's Home and Ranch presentation flyer (featuring this bust on the front) that shows all the pieces commissioned in this series by Jesse Corsaut. One of the bronzes in this series was owned by Mrs. Nancy Reagan and is now on display in the Reagan Library. From the flyer, describing the series and this bust: "The Optimist Boy's Home and Ranch Presents: JOHN WAYNE After an extensive search for an artist who could capture the spirit, the life and the character of a man who portrayed American heroes, and in fact, became one, the American Heritage Investment Galleries, Inc. joined forces with Mr. Jessie Corsaut of Monterey, California. Mr. Corsaut gave us a representation of John Wayne in exquisite busts and the standing figure shown in this brochure. Close examination reveals the creative ability and fine detail applied by Mr. Corsaut to bring out the natural features of Mr. Wayne. The standing figure, 31 inches tall, the bust, 10 1/2 inches high and the five miniatures represent the move roles played by John Wayne and are, in our opinion, the finest bronze art ever produced for sale to the general public." Only 100 of these were made. This piece is 92/100. The bust is attached to a black marble base and makes a wonderful addition to any collection- perfect for the library, office or home decor. Presented with a copy of the flyer. About The Artist: Creating objects of beauty for the world to enjoy has been the life work of Jesse Corsaut. His career began very early with a one-man show in Topeka, KS at the age of 14. Studying with many of the 'greats' at the Art Students' League at Columbia University, Jesse Corsaut's technique has been compared to that of Rembrandt because his "portraits weren't of the body; they were of the soul." One of Mr. Corsaut's works, a sculpture of John Wayne, stood at the White House during the Reagan presidency and in 1993 he was commissioned to create the Presidential Medallion for President Clinton. Jesse Corsaut is also the creator of the John Steinbeck bronze, acquired by the City of Monterey to grace the entrance of Cannery Row and the full-size bronze of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, installed 2007 on the University of Southern California Campus. His works grace the public areas of many cities and universities, as well as libraries, institutions and private collections across the country.
