Maher & Grosh, Toledo OH was
established in 1877. By the 1890's Maher & Grosh pocket knives, whittlers and
table cutlery such as this knife and fork were being distributed through the
establishment of booming trading companies set up to outfit the Westward
expansion and the great hunt for gold in the Pacific Northwest and the Alaskan
Klondike.

Maher & Grosh Knife and Period Fork
Although quite a few examples of highly collectible Maher & Grosh knives are still around, finding table cutlery such as these rare pieces is extremely difficult. The design and method of manufacture of this knife and fork has not been updated much when compared with cutlery in use during the Civil War, though these pieces are more likely from the 1890's. These will be a wonderful addition to a knife collection, antique home decor, or possibly a re-enactment kit. Knife dimensions: Overall- 9 5/8" Long. Blade: 5 3/4" x 1".
