THE VERANDA DESCRIPTION AND PHOTOGRAPHS The veranda is the family gathering place, the entertaining area and the meditative morning coffee or evening tea place. The weather at Casa Andesita ranges between 70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit most days, allowing for the daily use of an outdoor room such as this all year long. The view from the veranda is exquisite. The immediate view is of the orchard trees and lower garden. The eye continues in an unbroken vista of progressively lower mountains, quite often adorned with wisps of cloud as they blow through, until the horizon is reached at the Pacific Ocean and the Nicoya Peninsula. Each end of the veranda has a gate and the front is encircled by a railing for safety and utility. There is no need for screens, as mosquitoes and other insects are quite rare at this elevation.
This view is from the stairs at the rear entrance looking towards the front yard.
This is the gated entrance from the rear of the house.
This an example of the care that has been taken in choosing naturally colored woods to enhance the flooring. These steps are at the rear of the house and enter onto the veranda.
Another view from the veranda.
The rail was engineered to be the correct height and width on which to place a tea or coffee mug when seated near it. There is a substantial amount of space: accommodations for two hammocks, a breakfast table for 4 and 2 cruise chairs for reading have all been set up at one time without crowding.
