Item #HHB320 SOLD
About this Parade Horsehair Bridle Set: This jewel was discovered in a church auction in Cazenovia, New York. Donated to the sale by members of a family that had owned it for generations, it dates to the 1920's. Much more formal than the bridles customarily found from this time period, the intriguing design and flawless execution of this piece must surely be attributed to a master craftsman with expertise in both horsehair and leather work, even though the name of the maker is unknown. The leatherwork is expertly braided kangaroo hide, often attributable to prison work from Rawlins Prison, Wyoming - but known to have links to other prisons as well. The bridle measures 19" and the reins are 74" long. There are four rosettes depicting dogs and elk. Parade Horsehair Bridle / Item #HHB320 SOLD Click Here To E-mail Us About This Bridle! |
