![Text Box: The Silver State Stampede used the 100th Anniversary of the Rodeo in Elko as a fine venue for multiple tributes to the man whose vision started it all, Mr. Guadalupe S. Garcia. During the week of the Rodeo, J.M. Capriola’s took part in a celebration of the works of G. S. Garcia by hosting a Museum Collection of works from the collections of Dee Dee Garcia White (Granddaughter and Historian of G. S. Garcia) and Pure Cowboy, publisher of this newsletter.
Besides the avid ranchers, cowboys, collectors and the general interested public, many visiting rodeo competitors, political figures and famous personalities came by to see the largest collection of G. S. Garcia items on display for public viewing.
The press came by, and one of the interviews can be seen at the Pure Cowboy website, [CLICK HERE].](Pure%20Cowboy%20Newsletter%20August%202012_files/image292.gif)

The display also became a tribute to Mrs. Paula Bear Wright, of J. M. Capriola’s, who tragically passed away two weeks prior to the event. The works and history of G. S. Garcia, J. M. Capriola (an apprentice of G. S. Garcia’s) and the town of Elko were an integral part of her life. Her husband Doug stated, after viewing the exhibit. “She would have loved to have seen this.” I enjoyed meeting everyone who attended and listening to their comments. The joy expressed at the opportunity to see the exquisite works was extremely gratifying. Capriola’s offered the perfect venue. Due to the Wright’s hospitality and Dee Dee’s ingenious idea, G. S. Garcia truly came back to Elko, if only for a week. |
