.41 Caliber Remington Double Derringer

About This Historic Firearm:

Serial number 269, marked on the underside of the lower barrel.  This a Model 95 Double Derringer - also known as the 'Over-Under Derringer'.  This example of this iconic firearm is a Type II (or Model 3), which was in production between 1888 and 1911, with the total number produced estimated at 80,000.  The serial number places the date of manufacture to the first years of production.  The maker stamp is on the top flat - "REMINGTON ARMS CO., ILION, NY".

Remington made their extremely popular over/under derringers from 1866-1935. This version is a .41 rimfire short.  Made of 3 inch, round superimposed barrels, it tips up for extraction (manual) and is locked by a pivoting key on the right side of the frame.  This pistol is difficult to find in such good condition - many have cracked or broken barrel hinges - and is housed in its original fitted case with a period clasp.

The factory produced these firearms with walnut, rosewood or checkered hard rubber grips.  This firearm has been fitted with custom mother-of-pearl grips that show a lovely patina of age and are un-cracked, still in its' period lined box and accompanied by 2 bullets.

Remington Over/Under Derringer with 2 Bullets, Cased / Item #R1888 /    $4,700.
