About This Harry Yesness Stetson:
This beautiful hat was made by the John B. Stetson company by special order for Harry Yesness Clothier. Harry Yesness was a successful vaudeville entertainer who came to Caspar, Wyoming in 1919 to do a comedy act for the Elks Club. He needed his suit cleaned and pressed while in town and was charged quite a high fee for the service. Recognizing an opportunity, he sold all of his belongings, borrowed some money and bought the business. He turned the business into his clothing store, which was known for its quality of clothing and service. Yesness got the nickname "man in the barrel" from when he was being initiated into the Elks Club and had to walk around the downtown business area wearing a barrel. Drawing on his showmanship roots, Yesness turned the event into a marketing coup, drawing attention to his exclusive brand. Maker Marks are: "Wyoming's Best Known Clothier / Harry Yesness, The Man In The Barrel / Caspar, Wyoming" and "John B. Stetson Company" with Stetson Shield -"JOHN B. STETSON NO. 1 QUALITY / PHILADELPHIA / TRADEMARK" Size: 7 The Harry Yesness Cowboy Hat / Item #CH025 / $1,800. Click Here To E-mail Us About This Vintage Hat |
