Item #: K109 / $150.
Utica Knife & Razor Co. Skinner This is a really nicely styled knife that has seen a long life of heavy use. It is marked "UTICA KNIFE & RAZOR Co. / UTICA NEW YORK / CZECHOSLOVAKIA". The company was in the knife retail / import business between 1924 and 1935. It is a Bowie-Style Skinner. The blade shows some patina and pitting (not unusual for it's age and environment) and has a beautiful shape. The handle is made of jigged bone (the practice of machining texture into bone and adding color look like antler) and has one chip in it. Another turn-of-the-century way of manufacturing foux antler were molded and colored celluloid. Synthetics took over the market in the 1950's. The knife is solid and the handle is pinned with a single row of 3 steel pins. The nickel silver guard is nicely aged and shows the proper patina. Overall length: 8 3/4 inches
